Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions I receive.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the area being treated. Shorts and a t-shirt work well for most appointments.

No, you don't need a referral. You can book directly and I'll carry out a full assessment at your first appointment.

This depends on your injury and goals. Some conditions resolve in 2–3 sessions, while more complex injuries may require a longer rehabilitation plan. I'll give you an honest estimate after your initial assessment.

Sports massage can involve firm pressure, which may feel uncomfortable at times — but it should never be unbearable. I work within your tolerance levels and communicate throughout the session. Some post-treatment soreness is normal and usually settles within 24–48 hours.

Absolutely. Exercise prescription is a core part of my approach. I provide clear, tailored exercise programmes — usually with video demonstrations — that you can follow at home or in the gym. These exercises are designed to complement your in-clinic treatment and accelerate your recovery.

Your first appointment includes a thorough assessment, injury history, clinical testing, treatment where appropriate, and a personalised rehabilitation plan to help you return to doing what you enjoy.

Unfortunately, I am not recognised by private health insurance providers, so treatment cannot be claimed through your health insurance.

Most people benefit from sessions around two weeks apart. This gives your body time to adapt to treatment and rehabilitation while allowing us to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments.

Both professions work with musculoskeletal injuries and share many of the same assessment and treatment techniques. Sports therapy tends to place a stronger emphasis on sports-specific rehabilitation, manual therapy and return-to-sport planning. The most important thing is finding a practitioner who listens, explains clearly and gets results.

Not at all! While I work with many athletes, a large proportion of my clients are everyday people dealing with aches, pains and injuries from daily life. Whether your pain comes from running, gardening, sitting at a desk or just getting older — I can help.
